Different Strokes Community Event - Glasgow
The Studio, Glasgow
A community gathering for working-age stroke survivors and their friends and family. Meet others, hear from guest speaker Andy Wilson, and enjoy refreshments together.
About this event
A chance to meet others who understand life after stroke, hear from a fellow stroke survivor, find out more about our charity, and enjoy an optional activity together.
Join us for this in-person community event for working-age stroke survivors and their friends and family. The morning includes a presentation and Q&A with stroke survivor Andy Wilson, who shares his experience of multiple strokes in 2019, followed by informal discussion, an optional activity, and a light lunch.
Spaces are limited to 20 attendees, so please book your free ticket in advance using the link below.

Getting there
By train
The Studio is directly opposite Glasgow Central Station. Look for the glass-fronted building with “sixty7” on the glass in white lettering, and enter via the front doors and head to level 8 for reception.
By car
Hope Street itself is busy with a bus gate that makes stopping difficult. For drop-off or pick-up, use the parking bays on Waterloo Street, next to the SSE building (two doors up); it’s roughly a 35m walk from there to the door.
Accessibility
- Step-free access
- Accessible toilet
The Studio is on levels 8 and 9 of 67 Hope Street, directly opposite Glasgow Central Station. The building is fully wheelchair accessible, with lifts to all floors and accessible toilets on both levels.
There are stairs as well as lifts (21 steps between each floor, handrails on both sides but not on landings). Lift lobbies and stairwells have floor-to-ceiling windows, which can be startling when exiting.
Hearing loops are not installed. If you need one, let us know in advance and we’ll pass it on to the venue.
Assistance dogs are welcome, with water bowls available from staff.
The space can get busy and noisy, with some bright lighting throughout. A fire alarm is a rapid, high-pitched beep; staff assist with evacuation and there are refuge points by the lifts and stairs on each floor.
