About this site
This is the website for the Different Strokes Glasgow support group — a local branch of the national charity Different Strokes (registered in Scotland SC044190, and in England & Wales 1092168), serving younger stroke survivors, their families, and supporters in Glasgow.
Who built it
This site was designed and built by Fraser Murray as a volunteer contribution to the Different Strokes Glasgow group.
What it’s built on
The site is a small, server-rendered web application. It uses well-supported open-source tools rather than anything bespoke, so that anyone with general web development experience could pick it up in future.
- PHP and the Laravel framework
- Livewire with the Flux UI component library
- Tailwind CSS for styling
- Sentry for error monitoring
- PingPing for uptime monitoring
- Fathom Analytics for cookieless, privacy-respecting visitor statistics
Accessibility
Making the site usable by everyone — including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, or a magnifier — was a priority from the start. It’s designed against WCAG 2.2 AA as a baseline.
Our accessibility statement sets out what that means in practice and how to tell us if something isn’t working for you.
Privacy and security
- The site is served over HTTPS only, with HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) and a Content Security Policy in place
- Analytics is provided by Fathom, which is cookieless and does not track visitors across sites — so we don’t need a cookie consent banner
- contact us form submissions are encrypted at rest and automatically deleted after a short retention window
See our Privacy & Cookies Policy for more on how personal data is handled.
Browser support
The site is tested against the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. Older browsers may still load the site, but some visual details (rounded corners, modern image formats, focus styles) may differ.
